The History

Operation Christmas Stocking began as 'Love Lift' in the mid 1970's. Christian Missionary Pilots were flying their single engine airplanes out with various forms of assistance to Indian Reservations in Arizona, California, and New Mexico and to orphanages in Mexico. The pilots brought back with them a desire to bring Christmas gifts to these people who are located in remote areas, and do not have the resources to purchase personal items that they need, nor gifts for their children.

It has always been a strong commitment on the part of Christian Missionary Pilots to get the good news of Jesus Christ, in the form of Bibles and Christian literature, into the hands of as many people as possible. Out of this desire to help, and commitment to spreading the Word, Love Lift was born.

It began with one church sewing and filling approximately 40 cloth stockings and bags with personal hygiene items, small gifts and candy. Each year as more churches and groups have heard about Love Lift the number of stockings and bags has increased. In past years Christian Missionary Pilots worked in conjunction with Marilyn Kunde [ Lovelift.org ] of NMCC. Our joint efforts produced up to 6000 filled stockings and bags some years.

In recent years, in order to work more efficiently, Christian Missionary Pilots has been sewing, distributing and collecting bags on our own to fill the needs of the missionaries that are supported by this organization.

In 2009  Christian Missionary Pilots, after much prayer, decided to rename our outreach, "Operation Christmas Stocking."
