Mexico ~~~ (from their latest update) Update: Rancho Sordo Mudo, Mexico … Luke Everett / Tim CoonRancho Sordo Mudo is low on food due to short term mission cancellations and to dangers in Mexico. However, Luke travels in and out of Tijuana weekly and the Los Angeles Times said in today’s paper, “Mexico is safe to visit again.” There are 33 children attending Rancho Sordo Mudo’s school for the deaf. They enjoy a free home and school for deaf children. The school is now in its 41st year. The ministry staff raise their own financial support before coming down to serve at RSM. In October they held a baptism for a number of the children, one staff member, and Luke’s son! Their annual Christmas play was a fruitful experience when 6 parents came to the Lord this time! At the school they are teaching deaf children vocational skills, Mexican Sign Language, (LSM), and how to witness to other deaf people. They have all memorized John 3:16. Bible Fellowship Church in Ventura came down and built a second floor in their gymnasium which will have 4 specific classrooms targeting ministry and vocational training for the students. The ranch received a new fire engine after 7 months of efforts to import the vehicle. There are an estimated 3-5 million deaf people in Mexico. The State run schools are way behind at effectively teaching sign language or meeting the needs of these precious people. Luke’s vision for the school is to branch out to reach the hundreds of thousands of deaf in Mexico who do not have a language nor know Mexican Sign Language (LSM). They are praying for more staff at the ranch and endeavoring to send missionaries to the deaf who will start more schools where most needed in other parts of Mexico. The harvest is ripe. Pray for laborers. Learn more at www.ranchosordomudo.org ~~~
